Shopping for Food in a New City, Beijing

Posted on May 20, 2012 in Beijing by dessertkid

Well, as in the new city it is Sunday that usually no matter where I live is shopping for food day. So this fine sunday was with no exception a trip to a New Market here in Beijing. So after a 20 minute taxi Ride we found ourselves at our newest shopping center for those Veggies,Fruits, and Seafood selections. San Yuan Li Market the long and abundant market, with its narrow corridor, that shoots straight down under a rectangular incased building. The market starts off with beautifully shinned fruits, progressing to seafood, chicken, beef, pork, dried goods, then ending with vegetables. So after a quick walk through, we then started our shopping spree. Vegetables, then some awesome king prawns, ( 6 nice plump fresh prawns, for a whopping $9.50 USD ) a bargain and then some … Cherries from the South, grapes, lychees, plums …all seems to make their way into our shopping bags this trip. The damage for todays shopping , a mere RMB 300 ( $48.00 usd)
So if you get a chance , or are in Beijing do try to stop over to this market, I think that you will be mighty surprised.. CHeck out the photos..hope they won’t make you to hungry…Cheers
